The festival was initiated as a local event in 1976 to celebrate the unique heritage of Twinsburg, and to honor Aaron and Moses Wilcox. The identical twin brothers settled here in 1819, then bargained by donating land and money to build the first school in exchange for the renaming of Millsville to Twinsburg.
The first year of the festival, 36 sets of twins attended. Since then, Twins Days has grown into an internationally renowned festival, attracting media and twins from around the globe. The festival has earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the "World' Largest Annual Gathering of Twins." The event draws almost 3,000 sets of twins each year. The Wilcox Twins could hardly have imagined the international spotlight that would shine on their town every summer.
Twins Days takes place the first full weekend of every August. For more information, visit the Twins Days website or contact the Festival office at P.O. Box 29, Twinsburg, Ohio 44087 or by phone at (330) 425-3652.
The Home Days Festival is a take-off on the old tradition from the early 1900's. Twinsburg every two years would hold a "homecoming" festival for those friends and relatives who had moved away. It was quite an event, with children's parades, good food and entertainment. What an opportunity to have fun and get reacquainted.
Today's festival is much the same, with family oriented events, plenty of food and fun, and the same opportunity to meet with friends and neighbors.
Home Days is held the second full weekend every July. It is a three day event and is fun for everyone.
